Intuition is the sixth tea in the ‘As Above, So Below‘ collection. The ingredients of Intuition support the Anja chakra–the third eye chakra–and enhance the subconsciousness and enlightenment.
Anja Chakra
The Anja chakra is the seat of the soul, associated with light and higher consciousness. It connects your spiritual self to the divine, and enables your imagination and creativity. A healthy third eye chakra can make you more aware of your thoughts and emotions.
Each ingredient in Intuition tea contains a little medicine and a little magic. I’m not here to talk about the more farfetched claims surrounding any of these herbs; studies have been done about each of them that talk about preventing cancer or other major diseases, but we’re not going to go there. Please do not use herbal tea in place of actual advice or prescriptions from your doctor, and remember to check if any medication you are taking could react with the ingredients in the tea.
Almond
Almonds are rich in healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They contain protein, calcium, vitamin E, and zinc. Steeped almonds increases their bioavailability and makes the magnesium in them easier to absorb. Almond tea is good for inflammation reduction.
The magic of almonds invokes healing energy, fruitfulness, wisdom. Some people use it to help overcome addictions and dependencies. Almonds boost prosperity and are connected with money.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon has been used as a spice and a traditional medicine for several centuries. It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Some studies have shown cinnamon may act as an insulin memetic, though the studies were highly controlled, and insulin dependent people are not so predictable. Cinnamaldehyde found in cinnamon may be helpful to fight infections.
Magic-wise, cinnamon can boost healing, power, and strength. It is used for protection and luck, success and prosperity. And pie. Pie is magic.
Bay Leaf
Bay leaf is a perennial shrub of the laurel family, and has been used for thousands of years as a food flavourer and a traditional medicine. It has antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and antibacterial properties, and some people use it as insect repellant. Bay leaf contains linalool, which some studies say can act on the central nervous system as an antidepressant agent.
Magically speaking, bay leaf doesn’t rest on its laurels; people use it for protection, purification, good luck, and boosting psychic powers. Placing it under your pillow is said to bring on prophetic dreams, and carrying a leaf on your person is protection from dark magic.
Hibiscus
The medicinal benefits of hibiscus that are most talked about are it’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Anthocyanin is an antioxidant that gives hibiscus its bright colour. Some studies have shown that hibiscus may help reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Hibiscus may also benefit the kidneys and help with urinary tract infection symptoms, since it is a diuretic.
Hibiscus magic helps attract love, and can support divination. It can heighten intuition and enhance meditation and dreaming.
What's in the Box
When you purchase Intuition herbal tea at my massage therapy studio, you’ll get a cute paper pillow box with a sigil on the label. Each box contains one small tea bag with 1 teaspoon of loose tea, and one large tea bag with 2 teaspoons of loose tea. I created the sigil to infuse the contents of the box with introspective energy directed at the person who uses the tea. The tea bags, tea, box, and labels are all compostable.
How to Use
Intuition herbal tea is a deep, sweet tea with an warm, floral scent, stimulating the subconscious mind. Because this is ‘As Above, So Below’ tea, if you want to add something to your cup to sweeten your tea, consider also adding some to your bath; honey would be a great addition for your skin. I usually add epsom salt or sea salt to the tub, and a little pinch of sea salt to the tea. If you are feeling extra witchy, drop a stone like labradorite or sodalite in your bath for a little more third eye chakra magic (I don’t recommend adding stones to your tea; some crystals are water soluble and not good for drinking).
Hydrotherapy wisdom teaches us that soaking in a salt bath for longer than 20 minutes will reduce the medicinal aspect of your soak. I’ve measured the tea bag for your cup to make a smallish cup of tea, because drinking too much hot beverage in a hot bath can be dangerous for your thermoregulation. Remember the hydrotherapy gods? They’re still watching. Please bathe responsibly.
